November Update

13 Nov 2017

We have lots of activities planned for the winter months, both on and off the water. Read all about them here.

Use of Wayfarers

We’ve arranged for the two Wayfarers by the Race Box to be used for Sunday racing and cruising by competent helms. The sails and foils are kept in the boats.

Please contact Mark on 07766 994728 if you’re interested in borrowing them. They are fitted out as training boats, so we can adjust the standard PY to reflect this if you’d like to race them.

First Time Racers

Have you always fancied racing but never plucked up the courage, or don’t know how to go about it? Or maybe you’ve wondered ‘is my boat up to it’! Now is the ideal opportunity as we have the whole Flying Fifteen fleet high and dry with helms & crews looking to get afloat in other boats. Let us know and we’ll provide a match-making service (without having to swipe left/right/up/down...).

Team / Match Racing Event (dates tbc)

Please contact Mark if you’re interested in taking part, as we’re looking to borrow around four identical double-handed boats to make this viable. The dates are to be confirmed depending on interest.

Land Yachting – Sunday 26th November (provisional date)

BSA is looking to arrange a day of land yachting near Lydd in Kent and places are limited to 12, so will be on a first come first served basis. We expect the cost to be around £30; please let Mark know if you’re interested.

Maintenance Day – Sunday 10th December

We’re taking advantage of the low water to spend the time doing some maintenance on the power boats, buoys etc. If you are able to help out please let Mark know.

Christmas Lunch @ The Boat House Bistro Sunday 17th December

We now have 36 members taking part. If you’d like to come along, let Jim know (jwood@oxenbridge.com).

Boxing Day Bottle Tuesday 26th December

This fun event is open to Bewl sailors and visitors alike. Why not bring the family down to blow away the cobwebs and work off the excesses of Christmas Day?

Radio Controlled Yachts (date tbc)

Ever fancied trying model yacht racing and not getting your feet wet!? Now is your chance. We’re looking to arrange this for early January . . . again let Mark know if you fancy a go.

Annual General Meeting Sunday 4th February  (provisional date)

Not everyone's idea of a date to keep free or maybe one to avoid! But, without a small nucleus of volunteers, none of this would be possible. We’ll be looking for someone to step into Martin's shoes as President (Commodore in old money) as he has now moved away from the area; or maybe a Vice President.

Good Sailing!
