The three friends set off on their record attempt at 4 a.m. on 9 August 2017 and, battling unexpectedly low winds and monsoon conditions, Ollie, Ella and Josh completed the 60-mile challenge in Optimist dinghies in 11 hours and 29 minutes - almost 12 hours nonstop sailing each!      

Olympic medallist Nick Rogers previously held the record with a time of 13 hours and 55 minutes. 

The winner of the award will be announced at the London Boat Show on 11th January 2018.
