Howard has been a good friend to the sailing fraternity over the years and we are sorry to see him go.

There was a good turnout for the Midweekers' get-together, which was attended by BSA members and a good contingent from MOB, in the Boathouse Bistro on Saturday 6th April.

After a bring-and-share supper John, Amanda and Richard donated some champagne and a gift to Howard, wishing him a long and happy retirement.

In his 'thank you' message, Howard said,

"It has been a great privilege to work at Bewl Water for the greater part of my life – an enormously varied job, in an outstanding area, frequented by exceptional people: what more could anyone want?  It’s true that there have been some extraordinary challenges, both natural and man-made, over the years but the demands of these have been more than offset by the friendly and cheerful people who I would meet on a day to day basis.

. . . . .   Certainly I shall miss the challenges but I am happy to leave Bewl as a unique area of outstanding beauty that can be enjoyed both by the many who pursue activities in such a peaceful and exceptional setting, and by the numerous species of plant and animal life that make it their home.  I hope that balance will continue long into the future."
